An eight-week plan · English to Malayalam

Malayalam Before Keralam

മലയാളം പഠിക്കാം

Written for someone starting from zero — no Malayalam, and no background in learning languages. Kerala has among the highest English fluency in India, so you will never need this. That's the good news: it frees the plan to chase the phrases that earn a smile instead of survival coverage.

The eight-week plan →

Twenty-five minutes a day, week one broken out day by day. Every phrase spelled the way an English speaker reads it, and every one with a link that plays it aloud.

The pocket card →

One sheet, single-sided. Fold it ink-outward and each half becomes a face of a card that fits your pocket. Twelve phrases on one side, numbers and the frame on the other.

The phrase bank, as data →

Seventy-four phrases with an English respelling, the scholarly transliteration, a gloss, a category and the week each is introduced. Imports straight into Anki.

Pronunciation is written twice: an English respelling you can read straight off the page, and the precise scholarly spelling underneath for when you want it.

Spoken Malayalam varies by region. Cross-check anything you plan to lean on with a native speaker.
